Born in Romania and nurtured by a wanderlust spirit, Mia Dey has embarked on a soul-stirring journey across continents, absorbing the diverse cultures and landscapes. Having travelled extensively, she speaks 5 languages, has resided in 7 countries, and has absorbed the essence of each locale, infusing her art with a rich tapestry of global influences.

Her artistic odyssey is paralleled by a deep spiritual exploration, having studied Vipassana meditation through many silent immersive retreats lasting up to 45 days and delving into the realms of lucid dreaming and shadow work. She explores the depths of consciousness to unveil the deeper truths that lie beneath the apparent.

Currently based in a sun-drenched studio in the south of Spain, overlooking the vast expanse of the ocean, she finds inspiration in the ever-changing interplay of the inner and outer Light and Shadow. Her latest endeavour involves the creation of a majestic animal series, a testament to the innate beauty and wisdom of the natural world.

Looking towards the future, Mia aspires to expand her presence in galleries, sharing her visionary creations with a broader audience. She also plans to launch a wisdom card deck and a collection of T-shirts, offering tangible embodiments of her spiritual insights and artistic vision.

In my work, I explore the profound journey of overcoming and overgrowing, where the act of letting go becomes a path to embracing the unknown. Each piece talks about trusting the Intelligence of life, recognizing the wonder hidden in every moment. Through art, we can transform and tame our demons into friends, inviting integration and healing into our lives.

My creative process is introspective, reflecting my faith in the power of personal transmutation. I draw inspiration from the resilience of the human spirit and the beauty that emerges when we confront our fears and vulnerabilities. My work is a celebration of life's inherent benevolence, a reminder that every experience, no matter how daunting, holds the potential for growth and enlightenment. In my compositions, I use a variety of mediums, like inks and collage, acrylics and oils, to symbolize the beauty, complexity and depth of these themes. Textures and layers represent the multifaceted nature of our experiences, while contrasting elements signify the tension and harmony found in the process of releasing and accepting the Shadow aspects.
